Celebrating Black Excellence: How Somos Thompson Built For The Fan to Honor HBCU Culture showcases Thompson’s inspiring journey from Southeast D.C. to launching his brand, For The Fan. With deep roots in HBCU culture, Thompson’s work brings authentic representation to fashion, blending his passion for design with a mission to uplift Black college pride. His journey, from hand-painting clothing to landing For The Fan in major retailers like Footlocker, shows the power of perseverance and community.
We also highlight Destiny Howell’s Resilient Return: A Journey of Strength and Perseverance at Howard University. After a devastating ACL injury, Howell’s determination to recover and lead her basketball team is a testament to her mental and physical strength. Her story reflects the resilience of HBCU athletes and the importance of community support, both on and off the court.
